Not-a-Fan
As a Digital PR Agency we constantly have to monitor the news and social media so that we can help our clients get featured in the Media, so this means constant hours of reading the good and bad in the world.
Recently we have seen a huge demand in content for influencers especially those in the adult industry. Reading about someone who wants to sleep with a billion men or women in x amount of hours can be depressing, so for that reason we have developed a Google chrome app called “Not-a-Fan”.
While we have no problem with anyone making a living, or pornography or influencers or anything else in between we are simply fed up of reading about it, and we know others are too.
Our simple and free app can block out any mentions of these influencers so you don’t have to see their names when you read the news or visit your favourite social media site.
How to use the app
- Download the app here.
- Extract the ZIP file to a folder on your computer.
- Open Google Chrome.
- In the address bar, type:
- chrome://extensions/
- and press Enter.
- Enable Developer Mode (toggle switch in the top-right corner).
- Click “Load unpacked”.
- Select the extracted folder from Step 2.
- The extension should now appear in your Chrome toolbar!
Blocking your least favourite creators
- Click the “Not a Fan” extension icon in your Chrome toolbar.
- A small window (popup) will appear.
- Type a word you want to block in the input box.
- Click the “Add” button.
- The word will be saved and automatically censored on any webpage.
Remove a Blocked Word
- Open the extension popup by clicking the “Not a Fan” icon.
- You’ll see a list of blocked words.
- Click the ❌ button next to a word to remove it.
- The word will no longer be censored.
The App in Action
Simply entering a few words or names will keep you from reading about creators you aren’t interested in.
